Sunderland drink-driver gave one of the 'highest' breath test readings judge had ever seen

A Sunderland man who was well over the drink-drive limit was said to have given one of the highest breath sample readings a judge has ever seen.

Ryan Lloyd had been out drinking on July 17 this year when he decided to move a Transit van that contained tools - despite being drunk and having no driving licence. The 33-year-old then accidentally crashed the van into the back of his ex-partner’s car.

Lloyd, of Bowood Close, Ryhope Colliery, Sunderland appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to be sentenced for drink driving and driving without a licence. He pleaded guilty to the charges at a previous hearing.
