There are now just a couple of hundred tickets left from the extra allocation Sunderland fans received for the play-off final at Wembley. The Black Cats were given an additional 6,480 tickets to take their allocation up to 43,960, which are now already close to being sold out.
Sunderland have also confirmed they are set to make another request for more tickets, however that request is unlikely to be granted. It is set to be Sunderland’s fourth trip to Wembley in just over three years, the second of which in a League One play-off final following their defeat to Charlton Athletic in 2019.
The Black Cats ended their 48-year wait for a Wembley win in their last visit against Tranmere Rovers in the 2021 EFL Trophy final thanks to Lyndon Gooch’s second half goal. And they will be hoping to continue that record next weekend against Wycombe Wanderers, as they seek a return to the Championship at the fourth attempt.
