Sunday is going to be a bit of a homecoming for a former Seattle Seahawk. In Week 3, the Seahawks will be hosting the Miami Dolphins for the first time since the 2016 season. Coming to Seattle with the Dolphins will be a familiar face in linebacker Jordyn Brooks.
Brooks, originally a first round pick by the Seahawks in the 2020 NFL draft, is playing on a new team for the first time in his career. After spending four seasons in the Emerald City, Brooks took his talents to South Beach in free agency when he signed a four-year deal worth over $26 million.
Although he may not have been the kind of game-changing talent fans may have wanted from a first round pick, Brooks was a fine player who performed well during his time in Seattle. Overall, Brooks recorded 513 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, recovered three fumbles and snagged an interception. His 109 solo tackles in 2021 led the league and set a Seahawks franchise record.
So far in 2024, Brooks has 10 total tackles in two games.
Interestingly, the Seahawks and Dolphins did a bit of a switcheroo at linebacker. Brooks signed with Miami, and former Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker made his way to Seattle in free agency. Unfortunately, Baker is currently listed as DOUBTFUL for the game on Sunday, so we will likely not see both men in action against their former teams.
