Tottenham striker Richarlison thought he scored his first Premier League goal for the club on Saturday against Nottingham Forest early in the game. A ball from Oliver Skipp was played behind the opposition defence in the lead to the goal, with the run deemed to be offside by VAR.
The decision caught plenty of decision, given how tight it was after a lengthy stoppage from the officials to ensure they got reached a conclusive choice. The chalked off goal for the Brazilian striker will have come as a blow after some fiery comments from him regarding the poor season he has had, questioning the decisions of Antonio Conte to drop him.
"First of all I watched the interview of Richarlison and he didn’t criticise me," The manager said in response. "He said my season is (swears) and he is right because his season is no good. Because he had a lot of injuries. He started well with us, he then had injury in the Champions League and then he went to World Cup and he had another serious injury. He came back and stayed one month out. Then another injury.

"He scored zero goals with us, only two goals in Champions League and I think the guy was really honest to tell that his season is not good. His season and our season has still not finished and he has time to recover. If he deserves to play, I give him opportunity otherwise we will play another player."
The goal would have been the perfect way for the big summer signing to respond, but the intervention of VAR prompted many fans to respond on social media.
@fervoryasuo: "How is that offside?"
@Joe_DMB: "If it takes that long it’s not clear and obvious. Ludicrous."
@Mac__James: "That about sums up his season tbf."
@PFF_Nicky: "i mean how? are we seeing the same lines? how is he off???"
@Johngar21470100: "What a shame great finish and fantastic assist from skippy."
