Sugar Prices Finish Lower as the Global Sugar Supply Outlook Improves

March NY world sugar #11 (SBH25) Thursday closed down -0.25 (-1.27%), and March London ICE white sugar #5 (SWH25) closed down -2.40 (-0.47%).

Sugar prices Thursday extended this week's sharp losses, with NY sugar posting a 3-month low and London sugar posting a 4-month low. Sugar came under further pressure Thursday after India's Food Secretary Chopra said India may allow sugar exports if there is a surplus after domestic ethanol blending requirements are met. The Indian government currently estimates a sugar surplus of about 1 MMT this season.
