Sugar Prices Fall Back from 12-Year Highs on India Sugar Export Speculation

Oct NY world sugar #11 (SBV23) on Friday closed down -0.07 (-0.26%), and Dec London white sugar #5 (SWZ23) closed down -3.30 (-0.45%).

Sugar prices Friday retreated from 12-year highs and closed moderately lower on comments from  India's Food Secretary that sparked long liquidation in sugar futures when he said India has enough domestic sugar supplies to meet demand during upcoming festivals.  His comments fueled speculation the Indian government may allow sugar mills to boost their sugar exports.
