Sugar Prices Advance on the Outlook for Smaller Sugar Production in India

May NY world sugar #11 (SBK25) Wednesday closed up +0.19 (+1.02%), and May London ICE white sugar #5 (SWK25) closed up +8.70 (+1.66%).

Sugar prices Wednesday climbed to a 1-1/2 week high and settled moderately higher.  Sugar prices rallied Wednesday on concerns about tighter global supplies after the Indian Sugar and Bio-energy Manufactures Association cut its 2024/25 India sugar production forecast to 26.4 MMT from a January forecast of 27.27 MMT, citing lower cane yields.
