Sugar Posts Modest Gains on Brazilian Real Strength

July NY world sugar #11 (SBN24) on Friday closed up +0.03 (+0.16%), and Aug London ICE white sugar #5 (SWQ24) closed up +1.50 (+0.26%).

Sugar prices Friday posted modest gains. Short covering emerged in sugar futures Friday after the Brazilian real (^USDBRL) rallied to a 3-week high against the dollar. Strength in the real discourages export selling from Brazil's sugar producers.
