- Suella Braverman, a Reform MP, has formally requested the Football Association (FA) to abandon its diversity target for England men's coaching staff.
- The FA's target aims for at least 25 per cent of coaching staff across all England men's age levels to be from non-white backgrounds by 2028.
- Braverman described the policy as “utter woke nonsense” and “inherently racist” arguing it replaces merit with quotas and implements identity politics.
- She has written to FA chief executive Mark Bullingham, proposing a new principle of “The Best Person for the Job” instead of the current diversity strategy.
- The FA's chief executive, Mark Bullingham, previously stated the strategy aims to boost representation, drive inclusion, and tackle discrimination within football.
