Sue Gray's inquiry into a number of alleged parties held in Downing Street will not be published while the Metropolitan Police also investigate, reports suggest.
Dame Cressida Dick announced this morning that the Met will probe a 'number of events' in No 10 and Whitehall in relation to potential lockdown breaches.
She said the force had received information from the Cabinet Office but declined to say which alleged parties are being investigated.
“The fact that we are now investigating does not, of course, mean that fixed penalty notices will necessarily be issued in every instance and to every person involved,” she said.

“We will not be giving a running commentary on our current investigations.”
But there will be updates at 'significant points', she added.
The announcement came after another Downing Street scandal was revealed by ITV News last night.
Boris Johnson has admitted attending a birthday party organised by his wife in June 2020, when social mixing restrictions were in place.
Senior civil servant Sue Gray is currently carrying out an investigation into a series of alleged parties held in Downing Street.
Though reports now suggest the publication of her inquiry, which was due to be this week, will now be put on hold while police investigate.
A Cabinet Office spokesman said: “The investigation being carried out by Sue Gray is continuing.
“There is ongoing contact with the Metropolitan Police Service.”
Dame Cressida said investigations are carried out into 'the most serious and flagrant type of breach' where individuals knew they were committing an offence or 'ought to have known'.
The Met had been under pressure to launch an investigation for weeks, with the Daily Mirror first reporting allegations of parties breaching coronavirus regulations taking place in No 10 two months ago.
A Government minister will be forced to respond to Commons questions about the status of the Sue Gray investigation following the Met's announcement.
Deputy Labour leader Angela Rayner has been granted an urgent question on the issue at around 12.30pm.
