A Metropolitan Police investigation into alleged Downing Street parties could delay the publication of Sue Gray's report into the same events.
ITV political editor Robert Peston reported that the Scotland Yard intervention will mean the much anticipated Sue Gray report will not be made public, until the police's investigation is over.
Mr Peston tweeted: "Sue Gray will not publish her partygate report while the Met police investigate. So it will not be published this week and probably not for many weeks. This is some kind of reprieve for the prime minister. She will continue her investigation though."

The Cabinet Office would not confirm reports that Ms Gray's report will be delayed, reports PA News Agency.
A further delay to the long-awaited publication of Ms Gray’s inquiry will prolong the saga when Mr Johnson and others in the Tory party want it concluded.
A Cabinet Office spokesman said: “The investigation being carried out by Sue Gray is continuing.
“There is ongoing contact with the Metropolitan Police Service.”
A Government minister will be forced to respond to Commons questions about the status of the Sue Gray investigation into the partygate row following the Metropolitan Police’s announcement.
Deputy Labour leader Angela Rayner has been granted an urgent question on the issue at around 12.30pm today.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick said on Tuesday officers were now investigating potential offences over two years after being passed information from the Sue Gray inquiry.
