Sue Cleaver has teased more details about her Coronation Street exit - as she heads for the I'm A Celebrity jungle.
The ITV soap star is one of the first 10 stars joining the show when it kicks off on Sunday evening, and ahead of her joining the show, Sue has revealed how busy her filming schedule has been. Sue explained how she has been rushing to film some big scenes before she headed to Australia to quarantine ahead of the show's official start date.
Sue has played Eileen Grimshaw on Coronation Street for several years, quickly becoming a fan favourite. She has had some big storylines over the years, but bosses have remained tightly lipped on how her exit from the soap will go as she films I'm A Celebrity.
Speaking to the Mirror Online and other press, Sue revealed: "No, I've been trying to get the scenes filmed that they needed filming at work before I came out here. So my priority has been getting my proper work done before I headed out."
Sue's Corrie pals Simon Gregson and Jennie McAlpine have both appeared on the show - and she revealed what advice they had offered her in the lead up to her jungle stint, as the show returns to Australia for the first time in three years.
"I think they were quite surprised when they heard that I was going to do it. But yeah, I know. I've got their support behind me, which is a lovely thing. So yeah, I'm just raring to go now," she explained.
"They haven't told me to watch out for anything. They've just said that you just go and enjoy it and have a great adventure. Obviously Simon was in the castle, so that was a very different environment."
She added: "They both just said you know just just go in and go in and enjoy it."
Sue has been asked to go on the show many times before, but she explained why now is the right time.
"I've always said no, not me. No, I'd never do this. I've started on now it's no I'm not doing that not do and then I think with the pandemic, and we all had a lot of time on our hands," she said, "It sort of changed a lot of stuff for me and then I was 59 in September, and I just thought you know what, I really want to get out of my comfort zone."
