Sue Cleaver's husband has praised his wife for "being professional" and not like her "gobby" Corrie character when she realised Matt Hancock was on I'm A Celebrity.
Actor Sue has campaigned for Labour during elections and she spoke her mind when Tory Hancock entered camp without shouting or losing her temper. She even talked Boy George into staying on the show.
But her mild-mannered approach was a far cry from her character Eileen Grimshaw who would have taken matters into her own hands in the soap.
Sue's husband Brian Owen said: "I thought she would be professional but her leanings are towards the Mirror readers' side of things obviously.
"She has not been too nasty with him, she has been professional and doesn't want to cause a ruckus between all the people in the camp.
"You are seeing the Sue we know. She thinks before she speaks. The first couple of days I thought she was quiet, getting the cut of everybody."
"Sue as we know her, she doesn't dive in like Eileen would as a gobby northern woman. Sue sat back and listened and sussed out everyone really."
Sue began the show as a quiet character but now has close friendships with Mike Tindall and Owen Warner.
She was dubbed "two ball Sue" when she won the chance to have a beach BBQ with Hancock and Jill Scott this week and has also spoken of being reunited with her birth mum in recent years having been adopted.
Her son Elliot Quinn, from her first marriage to James Quinn, joked: "Her stuff with Matt Hancok was interesting, Prime Minister Cleaver 2025 yeah, we will have to see what happens!
Elliot added: "She has shown a lot of reliance and smashed it. Anyone going in you would be worried but she is in a place where she feels comfortable with good people to bounce off. I am happy for her.
"She is very professional but she is still going to have some input on the situation because it is a very serious thing that he(Hancock) has come from. It is quite casual walking in.
"Everyone is buzzing back home and we can see she has come out of her shell."
The pair, who arrived in Brisbane airport together to support Sue and be there when she leaves the show, hope she will get to do more trials now which could help her get to the final stages or even win the show.
Brian added: "I wasn't worried because I knew she would be looked after with her being diabetic, she has coped really well with that and the sleep thing. But we do quite a bit of camping at home, not outside obviously with a tent, but she is doing really well.
"Once we knew Matt Hancock was going in there I said she is going to have a great first week because she won't be doing any trials, because of the strength of feeling in Britain. Having said that, I have to hold my hands up and say he has done great in the trials.
"I can't wait to see her and to tell her how well she has done."
And Elliot said: She is being her true self. It is strange for me, growing up and seeing her all the time on Corrie and never seeing her as herself on screen. It is nice to see her in another light being herself on the screen. I am really happy.
"She hasn't had much in the way of trials which in a way as her son I am relieved about because I don't want to see her stressing. But she is doing well in the trials and hopefully she can relax and be herself and just enjoy it.'
