At a Seattle sports bar on a recent Saturday night, hundreds of unusually tall people experienced a rare sensation: blending in.

Women in their highest heels found themselves looking up, while men accustomed to ducking under doorways appeared unremarkable. For once, the perennial question about playing basketball was left unasked.
