There were shockwaves on Strictly Come Dancing as comedian Jayde Adams and her professional dance partner Karen Hauer were sent home after landing in the bottom two with CBBC star Molly Rainford and her dance partner Carlos Gu. Viewers were stunned to see the red light of doom fall on the two couples in the fifth week of contest, following a combination of the judges' marks and the latest public vote.
Both couples performed their routines again. Molly and Carlos danced their couple's choice to the Grange Hill theme tune, as part of Strictly's tribute to 100 years of the BBC. Then Jayde and Karen performed their charleston to Victoria Wood's classic The Ballad Of Barry and Freda (Let’s Do It) in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.
All four judges - Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas opted to save Molly. With three votes to Molly and Carlos it meant they had won the majority vote and would be staying in the competition.

But Shirley Ballas also said she would have decided to save them. She said: "Well both were absolutely superb in the dance off but, on a little bit more precision and quality of movement, I would have saved Molly and Carlos.”
The show's former pro dancer Anton said to see them in the dance-off was 'terrible.' He said: “Well it’s terrible really. The dance off is such a difficult place to find yourself, and it’s so disappointing and I thought both couples didn’t succumb to that disappointment and performed really really well. But just based on that performance, the couple I would like to save with a slightly more polished technique are Molly and Carlos.”
Fans of the BBC dance contest were 'devastated' and in tears to see Jayde leave. @InekeClewer tweeted: "@jaydeadams you were truly wonderful on this show, I have no idea why you were in the bottom two, I'm so sorry - lots of love x"
@MovieMarauder4 wrote: "I'm devastated for @jaydeadams on #Strictly." @CathBRFC said: "Absolutely gutted Jayde has left." And @sweetlacrimosa wrote: "Jayde Adams brought laughter and light to fantastic series of #Strictly."
They added: "It was so apparent how much she loved learning to dance, and it was such a beautiful thing to witness. Her partnership with Karen will forever be iconic." @liamandrews123 commented: "I’m crying, i’m gonna miss Jayde."
@apermanenthug said they were 'fuming.' "Fuming. That dance off was all wrong. Neither shouldve been there and Jayde should NOT be out already, wth," they complained. And @TrishB_585 said: "#Strictly actually quite sad to see Jayde go. She was so much fun to watch. Not taking anything away from Mollie though. She shouldn't have been anywhere near that dance off!"
Other viewers reckon it was the wrong to see Jayde go after former Arsenal footballer Tony Adams has been hit with a run of low scores landing at the bottom of the table. @BecauseICan2 messaged: "Jayde should have stayed, Tony should have gone. #Strictly is a popularity contest."
@Wandoful said: "Jayde and Karen were robbed, this should have easily been a week where Tony should have gone." @liamandrews12 wrote: "Right decision based on the dance off but JAYDE WAS ROBBED! Tony should’ve gone home."
@W0LF_official tweeted: "Once again.. it's a popularity contest." @HonestJ13162013 said: "#Strictly proves yet again that it's a popularity contest and not a dance contest. Tony, nice bloke, but not a dancer and he's through. Any of the remaining are better dancers but one will be pushed out. Stupid show." And @JimJasbro11 said: "The bottom 2 were an absolute disgrace...its a popularity contest not a dance contest."
When asked by host Tess Daly about her time on the show, Jayde said to Karen: “This has been the best thing I have ever done in my life and I will carry it to my grave, and it has been an absolute pleasure working with you and learning about so much that will go into my own stuff, in my own work. You are one of the most gifted people I have ever worked with Karen. And everyone on this show, said it to me, when I had you, they said ‘you’ve got the best one’ sorry everyone, and I did and you are fantastic and this has been such an honour."
She added: "Not only have I got to be on Strictly Come Dancing but I got to have Karen Hauer, you are amazing, thank you for everything!" The remaining 11 couples will take to the dancefloor next when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday October 29 at 6.50pm for its Halloween special, with the results show on Sunday October 30 at 7.20pm on BBC One.
