Fans of the Emmy award-winning show Succession have waited just over a year for the popular series to return. That wait is now over and the first episode of the fourth series has now dropped from today, March 27.
The series began in 2018 and tells the story of the Roy family, the owners of Waystar RoyCo, a global media and entertainment conglomerate, who are fighting for control of the company amid uncertainty about the health of the family's patriarch, Logan Roy. Ever since the first episode dropped, both viewers and critics fell in love with Succession and it has received widespread acclaim, it's executively produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Jane Tranter who is the founder of Bad Wolf, the studios behind Welsh-made shows like His Dark Materials, A Discovery of Witches and Industry. Its creator, Jesse Armstrong is the brain behind iconic comedies like Peep Show and Fresh Meat.
A synopsis for the fourth series has promised that there will be a “power struggle” in the new episodes. It reads: “The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.”
