Actor Matthew Macfadyen was beaming after he won the award for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the 2022 Emmy Awards for his role in HBO's Succession. In the series, the 47-year-old plays Tom Wambsgans and first appeared in the hit show in 2018.
Matthew first achieved national fame when he played Tom Quinn in BBC spy drama Spooks in 2002. He left the series two years later and has since appeared in several TV and film productions. The actor's notable roles include 2005's Pride & Prejudice alongside Keira Knightley, Ripper Street, Any Human Heart and ITV's Quiz in 2020.

Who is Matthew Macfadyen married to?
In 2002, Matthew began a relationship with Spooks co-star, Keeley Hawes. When Matthew and Keeley got together, she was already married to a cartoon designer called Spencer McCallum. Keeley had also just given birth to their son, Myles, but in 2004, she divorced Spencer and married Matthew within months of each other.

In the new drama series, Matthew plays disgraced Labour minister John Stonehouse. Keeley stars as Stonehouse's wife, Barbara, and in an interview with You Magazine earlier this year, the actress shared what it was like to work with her husband. She said: "The characters are completely unlike us or our marriage. Matthew couldn't look more different – coloured contact lenses, wigs, facial hair, false teeth.
"I'm much bossier than Matthew. But on the first day on set, he said something like, 'I think you missed a line', and it was like, oh, that's how it’s going to be!"
Who is Matthew Macfadyen's famous neighbour?
Matthew and Keeley live next to none other than Welsh funny man and Gavin & Stacey legend, Rob Brydon. The pair discussed this during Rob's podcast, Brydon &... in November 2020.
Opening the episode of his podcast, Rob said: "We should address this - We still are neighbours but we used to be very close neighbours," and Matthew confirmed that there used to be only two houses separating them. "Those were glory days. We used to see a lot of you and Keeley. There used to be takeaways!" Rob added.
"I saw you one day when I was passing in the street," the podcast host said and Matthew replied: "You did and you shouted w***er out of the car at me." The pair laughed and continued the conversation.

Matthew and Keeley share two children together: Maggie Macfadyen and Ross Macfadyen. She shares her third child, Myles McCallum, with her first husband, Spencer.
