Now that summer is upon us, many of us would like to head out for a walk in the glorious sunshine in Leeds.
Ledsham village to RSPB Fairburn Ings and back is one such glorious walk which has been noted for its beauty and positive effect on mental well being. It's a five mile circular trail - and considered moderately challenging.
It takes about two hours to complete, according to AllTrails.com, and is popular for birding, hiking, and running, "so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring".
The walk features Ledsham church, which represents the oldest standing building in West Yorkshire. There's also lots of different flora and fauna to see at the ings. And lots of opportunities to encounter local animals and plants along the trail.
Leeds man Mark Valentine, host of the White Fox Talking podcast, said: “At a time when mental health services are overstretched, this walk includes many of the things we are looking for in a health and well being walk.
"Being around water, trees, wild flowers, grasses and wildlife are all proven to have a positive effect on our mental well being. This route takes in all these things, whilst being reasonably flat and accessible in most conditions.
"I’ve probably done that walk half a dozen times with different people. Can be muddy after a lot of rain, but walking around Fairburn Ings is good anyway."
