Crystal Palace Diego Gomez Brighton Charalampos Kostoulas Fabian Hurzeler Jack Hinshelwood Jaydee Canvot Jean-Philippe Mateta Jefferson Lerma Walter Benitez
  • Brighton achieved a stunning 5-0 victory over rivals Crystal Palace, scoring three times in the opening 10 minutes to move to 16 points in the Premier League.
  • Midfielder Diego Gomez scored a spectacular goal from inside his own half, executing a 51-metre strike over stranded Palace goalkeeper Walter Benitez.
  • An early own goal from Jaydee Canvot and a deflected finish from Yasin Ayari put Brighton 3-0 up early on, before Charalampos Kostoulas and Jack Hinshelwood sealed the victory.
  • Palace substitutes Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jefferson Lerma both hit the woodwork, but the visitors failed to score on a miserable afternoon in Sussex.
  • The resounding win marked head coach Fabian Hurzeler's first victory over Palace in five attempts.
