Stunning Donegal mansion hits the market for just €250k but there's a big catch

A beautiful Donegal mansion has hit the market for just €250,000 after its value was cut due to one major issue with the property.

According to the agent in charge of selling the home, it was found to be built with MICA - and so will likely need costly refurbishments.

The house, used as a bed and breakfast, is located near the village of Ramelton and is named Moorfield Lodge.

It features four double bedrooms, each with its own ensuite, and comes with its own stables on four acres of land.

It also has walk-in dressing areas, a sunken jacuzzi bath, and stunning low-level windows to allow for the enjoyment of the rear garden and woodland.

The 5,123sq. ft. house comes with a contemporary glass front with views over Lough Swilly to the front and natural woodland to the rear.

Estate Agent Sherry Fitzgerald Rainey has warned potential buyers that the house has “high levels” of MICA.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “Please note the vendor has had the concrete blocks tested for Free MICA Muscovite.

“All intending purchasers should make their own structural and financial investigations in view of this information prior to the auction.”

The estate agent’s description says Moorfield Lodge is a "haven of tranquillity with a minimalist and open plan design, and floor-to-ceiling glass walls while an air of calm prevails throughout the residence."

The property will be available for viewings, inspections, and surveys and will be strictly by prior appointment with the selling agents on Saturday, May 7, 14, and 21, and Wednesday 11, 18, and 25.
