Stunned family open curtains in morning to find flock of 20 sheep staring at them

A family were stunned to wake and open up their curtains - and find a flock of 20 sheep gazing back at them.

Mum Diane Fisher got up last week to find the wooly runaways grazing on her lawn in Egerton, Kent.

The flock had let themselves in through Diane's open garden gate across a quiet country road at 6am.

After the family enjoyed watching the sheep and their lambs whilst eating their breakfast on Thursday (Apr 20) Diane took to social media to try and track down the owner of the vagrants.

The married mum of three posted: “Escaped sheep! We have woken up to about 20 sheep in the garden. If you have lost your flock let me know.”

One commenter remarked that the visit would "save her from mowing the lawn" to which Diane replied that it was an "awesome privilege".

The Facebook post reached the owner of the lost flock who quickly came to retrieve them from eating Diane's daffodils.

Diane said: "It's very rural here, with public rights of way so assume someone left the gate open.

"It was over the road and our gate was open so they just let themselves in.

"The farmer was awesome- just called them with a bit of feed and off they went into his transport."

Though Diane's children were excited at the unexpected guests, it was Silver the Bengal cat who was most fascinated by the woolly burglars.

On her cat’s reaction to the fluffy visitors, Diane said: “She was a bit scared at first with her tail puffed out but it graduated to genuine interest after a few minutes.

“She's an indoor cat so it was all very exciting for her, well it was for us too, to be honest.

“One of the reasons we fell in love with our house was the sheep grazing on the local fields.”
