After he was fired by the Cleveland Browns, former running backs coach Stump Mitchell stated his goodbyes to his players, the city, and the organization.
In a lengthy goodbye, Mitchell emphasized his love for every running back he coached in Cleveland and for the Browns’ organization:
“I want to express my sincere thanks to the players and running backs who donned the Browns helmet, giving their all to achieve success on Game Day. I devoted my efforts to maximize your hard work and talent, and has been a rewarding journey.”
Mitchell will land on his feet, as a well-respected running backs coach around the NFL. However, when the run game coordinator cannot get the run game going with two young backs who looked lost at times, the team had a good reason to look for a fresh perspective.
The Browns have already interviewed former running back Duce Staley for the role.
