The Carolina Panthers, although slightly more fun, still fell short in yet another bumpy ride this season. But with some bad came a bit of good.
Here are the studs and duds from Week 13’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
Stud: RB Chuba Hubbard
After amassing 92 yards from scrimmage in Week 12, Hubbard powered the offense for the second straight outing. The third-year back racked up a career-high 25 carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Not only is he just the second 100-yard rusher Tampa Bay has allowed all season, but he’s also the first 100-yard rusher Carolina has had here in 2023.
Dud: RB Miles Sanders
Hubbard’s backfield mate didn’t fare as well, again. Sanders rushed for just 23 yards on eight totes.
He’s now averaging 3.1 yards per rushing attempt in the first season of a four-year, $25.4 million deal.
Stud: WR Jonathan Mingo
Mingo may have taken a step forward in Week 13. He posted career-highs with six catches and 69 receiving yards.
The rookie wideout has posted consecutive games of at least 60 yards for the first time this season.
Dud: WR Adam Thielen
In a follow-up to his one-catch, two-yard output last Sunday, Thielen notched three catches for 25 yards this time around. The 33-year-old wonder, who has been garnering a ton of attention from opposing defenses, has cooled off considerably after an incredible start.
Stud: OLB Marquis Haynes Sr.
Haynes Sr. led the defense in tackles (seven) and tackles for a loss (two) while registering the only sack of quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Dud: OLB Brian Burns
Burns led the defense in punches thrown (one) and ejections (one).
