Student sexually assault by friend, rat infested family home and jailed this week

Man hid in wardrobe after sexually assaulting friend

A Liverpool student felt "helpless" and "scared" after a friend sexually assaulted her before hiding in her wardrobe.

Zeenia Naqvee, 21, said her friend shoved his hands down her trousers as she cooked dinner.

In a bizarre twist, Zeenia said he then hid in her wardrobe after he followed her to her bedroom while he 'begged for sex' despite Zeenia repeatedly rejecting his advances.

Speaking of the assault that put her on edge, Zeenia, from Sheffield, told the ECHO: "I was in my own house. I should be safe."

She added: "I was just really surprised because we were friends. Since then, I've been quite wary."

Zeenia reported the assault to the police in June 2020 and in July 2021 he was ordered to pay her £400 in compensation for the sexual assault under Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 an was given a 12 week prison sentence suspended for two years.

Mum 'disgusted' as rat chews through daughter's carpet in area 'overrun' with vermin

A mum said her area's rat problems are out of control after her daughter was woken up by a rat chewing through her bedroom carpet.

After that incident in November last year, the mum-of-two said rats also started to appear in the kitchen of her Page Moss family home.

The mum, who asked not to be named, said that after installing shop bought and makeshift traps she caught four rats in her kitchen – which she had banned her children, aged seven and ten. from going in “because it’s just not safe.”

The mum said that she reported the infestation to her housing provider and to Knowsley Council ’s environmental health team, who came out to visit last week.

After finding a hole in the cupboard, she put chicken wire and nails into the hole and for a few weeks everything seemed fine.
