Student paramedic to represent Scotland in six-a-side World Cup in Germany

A student paramedic has been selected to represent Scotland in the six-a-side Football World Cup.

Ritchie Maxwell, a student technician in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway, will represent his country in Germany this month. The 35-year-old will attend the tournament for nine days in Essen from June 3.

Ritchie, who will be putting his best foot forward ahead of his hopeful qualification to become a paramedic, said: “I was delighted when I got the call asking if I could join up with the team - to represent your country in any sport is a great honour.
