A Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) attached to the Central Reserve Police Force and an engineering student from Yemen were killed in a road accident opposite CRPF West Camp Gate late Wednesday night. The student, Ammar Suleha (22), a second-year engineering student enrolled in a private college, was returning home on his bike and mowed down PSI Swami Gowda (54), while he was exiting the CRPF campus after completing his shift around 11.30 p.m.
According to the Yelahanka Traffic Police, Suleha was driving in a rash and negligent manner. “The PSI was trapped in the handle, and was dragged a distance of around 50 ft before the bike skidded to a halt. As Suleha toppled from the bike, his helmet gave way and he sustained head injuries,” said a police officer.
Both, the PSI and the student, were taken to a private hospital in the vicinity where they succumbed to their injuries.
The Yelahanka Traffic Police have taken up a case of death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving against Suleha and are investigating.
