A student nurse has had her life turn upside down after discovering a small lump on her neck, which turned out to be stage four cancer.
Alix Maitland, 20, says she had no other symptoms and is now facing rounds of chemotherapy to fight the disease, but has tried to stay positive throughout the experience.
The Scottish woman was in her second year at Edinburgh Napier University and had been working 12-hour shifts on the wards as a student nurse.
