Student, 24, stabbed to death in random attack while working in luxury furniture shop

A woman has been stabbed to death in a high-end furniture shop in a brutal random attack, police have said.

Brianna Kupfer, 24, was working as a consultant at Croft House in Hancock Park, Los Angeles, in the US, on Thursday when a man attacked her.

Tributes have poured in for the design student at UCLA with family and friends saying she was an "angel" and "loved by all".

Her body was discovered 20 minutes after the brutal attack by another customer.

By the time police arrived at the scene, Ms Kupfer had sadly died.

In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department said: "Detectives have determined the suspect was not known to the victim and was a random walk-in to the store.

"The suspect attacked the victim with a knife and fled the scene through the back door. There is no known motive at this time."

The LAPD believe the suspect was likely a homeless person who did not know the victim.

The department described the suspect as "a male Black, unknown age, tall, thin, wearing a dark hoody, sunglasses, a white N-95 mask, dark skinny jeans, dark shoes and carrying a dark backpack."

Ms Kupfer's father told CBS reporters she was a gifted artist.

Friends of Brianna's said that "the world has been robbed of a productive member of society – who glowed with positivity".

“It’s terrifying. It’s horrible,” Dr Jennifer Botelho, who owns a chiropractor’s office next door, told CBS Los Angeles.

"She’s such a young girl… We feel so horrible for Brianna’s family, and hope we can catch this guy."
