Struggling Leeds mum-of-eight sees Universal Credit 'cut' as she is forced to feed family 'beans on toast for tea'

Living off beans on toast for tea and “whatever we had in” is the harsh reality for a mum-of-eight on benefits living in Leeds.

Pam Booth, 51, has opened up about how she has struggled to keep on top of bills and provide for her family while studying to become a teaching assistant. The Seacroft mum has been visiting the foodbank at St Richard’s Crypt on Ramshead Hill, and says if she didn't go there her family “wouldn’t be able to eat”.

Her children are aged eight, 13, 15, 17, 21, 23, 27 and 29. The youngest four are still living at home. Pam also has to provide for her pet chihuahua and her daughter’s Staffordshire bull terrier.
