Yesterday the Met Office issued a yellow warning for wind for parts of Merseyside.
Strong wind battered coastal areas, including Formby, Crosby and Southport and gales are expected to remain in place for most of the day. Forecasters report however that when winds die down into the evening showers and heavy rain will continue.
The Met Office says the maximum temperature will hit 9C today and 3C in the night. It's set to become windier again overnight but rain will dominate the forecast.

Over the weekend it will be showery but there will be some sunny intervals developing, meaning there will be highs of 11C. Looking towards next week it will turn much colder with frosty nights and patchy ice. Some showers could become wintry over high ground with hail or snow possible from Sunday onwards.
The BBC outlook for Sunday to Tuesday reads: "Sunday will be a windy day with a mix of bright spells and some blustery showers drifting in from the west, these falling wintry on the hills. Winds easing overnight.
"Dry and bright for a time on Monday, but turning cloudy and wet in places later in the evening. Trending colder. After a cloudy start, Tuesday will be bright with the odd wintry shower on higher ground."
