Since introducing its first Connected watch in 2015, Tag Heuer has become a leader in the luxury end of the segment.
Now, new black titanium members of the Connected Calibre E4 collection show how the Swiss watchmaker is even more sport savvy, particularly in golfing.
Based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Tag Heuer launched the Connected Calibre E4 Golf Edition in 2018 as its first timepiece dedicated to the links.
Last April saw a new 45mm model, which now has a smaller sister at diameter of 42mm, the same as a golf ball.
In fact three golf balls are included with the latest Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E4 42mm Golf Edition, which is worn with a white rubber or black leather strap with green lining and stitching.
The entire watch case is made from black DLC Grade 2 titanium. The reduced size and weight help golfers easily achieve a balanced swing.
On the bezel, the specific timer is designed with an 18-hole indication. The redesigned interface makes it easier to control golf-related functions, including high-resolution 2D maps showing hazards and distances on more than 40,000 golf courses around the world.
But it's the line's new Full Shot Tracking function that takes the game to a new level.
When players start a round, the watch automatically keeps track of the score without their having to touch it again during the game. Each player need only glance at the connected model to get distance for the next shot.
All the shots are tracked from the tee to green, with putting also monitored.
Additionally, all tracked shots are allocated to a specific club in the bag, the wearer's selections accruing over time for detailed performance assessment.
At completion of each hole, all strokes have been detected so no further input is required by the player, who can then focus on the next hole.
The slogan "No distractions, just golf'' reflects the 42mm model's purpose as a caddie on the wrist.
The new, all-black Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E4 has the same diameter and, like the Golf Edition, utilises DLC Grade 2 titanium to make it the brand's lightest connected watch for people with an active lifestyle.
The matte black case is paired with an interchangeable smooth black rubber strap. The signature chronograph-inspired design features a black steel rotating crown and matching pushers used for interface navigation.
Versatile digital or mechanical-inspired watch faces can be downloaded, as well as NFTs and an image viewer dial, for the wearer to express his or her individual style.
The black titanium Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E4 provides sports tracking for running, cycling, walking, swimming and different fitness activities, including a seven-minute workout with guided coaching.
Golf-related functions are also available to help players enjoy their time on the course. The timepiece also features the brand's recently launched Trail & Hiking activities function with precise altitude tracking.
In yet another novel model, the black titanium Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Sport Edition 45mm includes a new barometric capability to complement the Trail & Hiking application.
Fine-tuned use of the barometer makes it possible to track the gradients of sporting activities.
For instance, changing the main metric to "altitude gained" allows the users to monitor their efforts. They further can review their pace and the effect of altitude by means of post-session analysis on the Tag Heuer companion mobile app.
On all 45mm models, the steel crown is topped with a rubber insert, making it easier to grip, even with wet hands.
The new strap design takes into account the rigours of sporting activities. The black rubber straps feature red, orange or blue mesh allowing the skin to breathe, while the pin buckle further ensures an ideal fit for vigorous body movement.
