Strictly Come Dancing champion Hamza Yassin and finalist Helen Skelton are set to put their dance floor rivalry behind them as they co-host one of the BBC's most popular shows.
Presenter Helen and wildlife cameraman Hamza have featured regularly on Countryfile over the years but have not worked together on the programme that rakes in at least six million viewers per episode.
And with Glitterball Trophy winner Hamza and fans' favourite Helen lighting up the ballroom floor over the last 13 weeks, the BBC are hoping to cash in on pair's popularity in hope of attracting even more fans to the nature show.
A TV insider told The Sun : "It’s a huge opportunity for Hamza and Helen as Countryfile’s ratings eclipse most soap operas. But it’s unlikely to be the only project they both get.
"Hamza is set to front his own nature show, while Helen is expected to get her own vehicle based around her adventurous and bubbly personality."
Helen, 39, and her pro partner Gorka Marquez had been one of the favourites to win the show, but lost out to Hamza, 32, and his partner Jowita Przystal.
They also faced off against CBBC star Molly Rainford and singer and radio presenter Fleur East in the final.
Hamza had been a firm favourite with fans throughout the 20th series of the hugely popular dance competition thanks to his incredible lifts and gentle nature, but former Strictly pro dancer Robin Windsor thought Fleur and her partner Vito Coppola were the rightful winners based on three final performances.
His tweet read: "Based on tonight fleur and Vito should take home that mirror ball." Robin later congratulated Hamza and Jowita, saying: "tbh all deserving winners for different reasons."
The news of Hamza and Helen working together on Countryfile comes as reports claim that BBC bosses intend to transform Helen into their 'golden girl' following her star turn on Strictly. The mum-of-three is expected to land more BBC roles after winning legions of new fans.
A BBC insider told The Sun on Sunday: "[BBC] bosses want to make her the channel’s new 'golden girl'. She is being lined up for guest presenting slots on the BBC’s The One Show and Morning Live.”
The source added: "Another option is her own show, a very outdoorsy action series."
The Mirror has contacted the pair's representatives for comment.
