Strictly star will not face rape charges as police drop case

A Strictly Come Dancing star who was arrested last year on suspicion of rape will not face criminal charges, Hertfordshire Police have confirmed.

The unidentified man was arrested on October 13, 2025 and released on bail under investigation.

Hertfordshire Police said that, following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), there was “insufficient evidence” to bring forward criminal charges.

At the time of the arrest, it was reported that the man was alleged to have raped a woman after a BBC event, having met her through his participation in Strictly.

The Sun added that the alleged victim was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show, and it is understood the allegation was not related to the most recent series which aired between September and December 2025.

It is not known what role the man had in the programme, and it remains unclear whether either party will have any future involvement with the programme.

While no charges will be pursued, Hertfordshire Police said that enquiries had been thorough, and the decision to take no further action followed careful consideration of the evidence.

In a statement on Tuesday, a Hertfordshire Police spokesperson said: "There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape.

"The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, to allow further enquiries to take place, will face no further action.

"Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring forward criminal charges."

Another man involved with Strictly was arrested on suspicion of rape two months earlier, in August last year, with the Metropolitan Police saying at the time the man was also suspected of "non-consensual intimate image abuse".
