Strictly spoiler leaves fans in tears with viewer favourite expected to exit

A Strictly spoiler has left fans reeling after the results were shared online.

The much-loved Strictly Come Dancing has made its return to Blackpool but some viewers have been left in tears after a fan favourite was shown to be leaving the series.

The show made its return to Blackpool this weekend, the first time in three years as the show returned to the home of ballroom dancing. Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman were on hand to lead proceedings, as the eight remaining stars took to the dance floor for their spectacular routines in a very special week for the show.

The Daily Mirror reports that first perfect score of the series was given out to Fleur East this evening, as she topped the leaderboard with 40 out of 40 for her amazing Couple's Choice routine to a Destiny's Child megamix.

Fans have now reacted to the shocking result - and took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

One penned: "In my opinion they were one of the best tonight (+ my fave) so i don’t understand this but life," whilst a second added: "I’m never watching Strictly ever again!!!!! Is the spoiler a joke, it has to be a joke right it MUST be," a third shared.
As to not spoil the show for viewers, The Mirror has chosen not to reveal who was in the bottom two and who has left.

The result is leaked weekly as the Sunday Strictly results show is filmed on the Saturday evening. It is not broadcasted until Sunday evening so the result is usually shared online before the show airs.

"It gets on my nerves. Please stop. I don’t know who you are but please stop. Don’t do it. Why would you do it? Nobody knows who it is," the judge said earlier this week, "The audience, like the people who go to [Agatha Christie murder mystery play] The Mousetrap for example, which has been going for years, we’re all in it together.

Knowledge is power and all that sort of stuff, everyone has an agreement we won’t say anything, so I don’t know who it."

However, David Thorpe, the person behind the infamous Strictly spoiler, insists people "want to know" – but told The Mirror he doesn't spoil it for people who don't want to know, only targeting those who are interested to find out.

"I mean, as far as the people who are accessing it go through me, they are actively seeking it out. They want to know," he said, "So I'm not spoiling it for people who don’t want to know and I do my very best not to – I try limit it to those who want to find out. People google the results and hit my website through searching.

"If there wasn’t a demand for the information to be out there, my site wouldn’t get as many hits as it does."

*Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
