Shirley Ballas has told a devastated Strictly fan to 'keep their chin up' after they were left in tears by Jayde Adams being kicked out on Sunday night.
After appearing to cement herself as a real fan favourite in the early weeks of the new series, thanks to her partnership with popular pro dancer Karen Hauer and their performances, which saw them do a mean and moody tango to Adele's Rumour Has It and highly entertaining routine to What A Feeling from Flashdance.
A week before Jayde and Karen's shock exit from the Strictly ballroom, comedian Jayde was left in tears after performing a dance in honour of her late sister Jenna. After she and Karen had an emotional Shirley crying as she gave her critique, an overwhelmed Jayde broke down when talking about her sister to host Claudia Winkleman.
Jayde and Karen landed in the dance-off for the first time after Strictly'S BBC 100th birthday special. While they landed in the middle of the leaderboard, following their Charleston to a Victoria Wood classic, it wasn't enough to keep them out of danger.
Jayde and Karen were on half of a surprising bottom two, as consistent high scorer Molly Rainsford also landed in trouble, alongside pro C arlos Gu. and, after both couples reprised their performances, it was Molly and Carlos who were kept in by the judges.
Many Strictly fans were upset to see Jayde and Karen go so soon, with one young viewers left crying on their sofa as credits rolled on the results show. The little girl's mum shared the video with head judge, Shirley, writing: "@bbcstrictly my 4 year old Poppy was devastated her girls were voted off," also tagging Jayde and Karen in the post.
Shirley was quick to respond, offering some words of encouragement to the distraught youngster. She wrote: "e love you Poppy and we appreciate you tuning in. Have a lovely day. You will see them in the final. Every one does a little dance. Keep your beautiful chin up don’t cry."
