Strictly's Kym Marsh says show left her in tears - but family came to the rescue

Kym Marsh says her Strictly frustrations have left her in tears – but her family comes to the rescue.

Former Hear’Say singer and Coronation Street actress Kym has struggled to find time for training in her busy working and family schedule.

And she’s desperate to avoid a repeat of last week when she languished in the dance-off. The BBC Morning Live presenter has vowed to give it her all this weekend.

Kym, 46, says: ”All of a sudden, I’ve been in tears out of frustration.”

Juggling work on Morning Live and Waterloo Road as well as being a mum to her three children, Kym, who wed Army Major Scott Ratcliff last year, grabs rehearsal time with dance partner Graziano Di Prima.

She admits: “It does get quite tricky. We train as much as we can. There are some days where it becomes impossible, my schedule for Waterloo Road for instance becomes too manic, we lost Tuesday this week, because I was in every scene all day. I do have two other jobs as well as this and I have a family. They have to be a priority as well.

“We were waiting for the train yesterday, and we started dancing there!”

Turning to her family in times of need, Kym, who has David, 27, Emilie, 25, and Polly, 11, says they all have words of encouragement.

“The big thing is my family comes good,” says Kym, who is doing the show for dad David, who has incurable cancer.

“I know I only have to call my dad and he will go, ‘Come on, you’re a Marsh. Sink or swim, you’ll get through this’.

“Or Emilie will do something to make me laugh. This morning a text from my 11-year-old said, ‘Good luck Mum. I love you’. Those are the things that push me forward.”

This week Kym and Graziano dance the quickstep to Ballroom Blitz by Sweet, the Strictly theme.

Graziano, 28, said: “I call her my warrior. I don’t know how she does it. She’s always fixing everyone, putting everyone first.”
