Kym Marsh made a triumphant return to Strictly Come Dancing tonight after missing a week due to Covid.
The Coronation Street star and singer was unable to perform last weekend as she had tested positive for coronavirus. Strictly bosses gave her a bye into this week's competition, with Ellie Taylor being the one sent packing last weekend.
Kym was back to full strength tonight as she performed a Cha Cha to Fame from the musical of the same name. As she performed her routine, she scored a huge 34 out of a possible 40 as the judges gave their verdict on her routine.
"So happy to have Kym and Graziano back! They did so well with such a hard dance (even if they were a little undermarked!). If you’re a fan of them, make sure you vote for them because it’s gonna be a tight night on the Leaderboard. #Strictly," one wrote.
However, others suggested she was overmarked and fumed at the judges' scores.
Another shared: "Sometimes it's hard to sit on my hands and regulate my thoughts in a tweet.. but I'm genuinely scratching my head as to why the judges were so wowed by Kym. I think it's her time to go this week #Strictly."
Kym had previously opened up about how tough the previous week had been, as she had to miss the show and her dad was also rushed to hospital. Testing positive for the virus, she was also unable to see him until she had fully recovered.
"So, obviously at the start of the week I came down with Covid. That wasn't pleasant and certainly wasn't at a good time at all so that was rubbish but thankfully I am testing negative now," she said, "But then dad went into hospital during the week and obviously I have not been able to see him, I managed to see him yesterday because I have been testing negative."
"I have been able to go and see him but he is ok, he is on the mend but it was very scary for a couple of days, it has been a bit of a full plate on our end," she admitted as she opened up on her tough week.
Kym was disappointed to have tested positive for Covid - especially after the highs of Blackpool.
"It wasn't the best time last week because we were on such a high after Blackpool," she added on Morning Live, "We wanted to drive forward and we are going to bring everything we can this week and really go for it, I have missed you, Graz."
A spokesperson confirmed last week that Kym would get a bye into the quarter final.
" Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend," they said, "Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week."
*Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 5.40pm on BBC One for the results show.
