Strictly's Katya Jones asks ex-husband Neil Jones if he's 'proud' after TV appearance

Strictly Come Dancing star Katya Jones has publicly reached out to her ex-husband Neil Jones.

The professional dancer, 32, took to Instagram over the weekend to send her former partner a message, after her hilarious cameo on CBBC's Saturday Mash-Up.

Katya suggested her ex-husband had helped her answer one of the questions on the children's TV show, thanks to his love of one particular football team.

The Strictly star married 39-year-old Neil in 2013, after five years of dating, but the BBC co-stars split in 2019.

Despite going their separate ways personally, the two dancers have remained good pals on and off the dance floor.

Posting after her TV appearance aired on Saturday, Katya proved once again she remains on good terms with her ex-husband.

On the CBBC show, the dance champion was quizzed on a number of subject matters, including one that clearly made her think of her ex.

The show's hosts asked the Russian dancer: "What men’s football team won the Carabao Cup on Sunday?"

After deliberating for a couple of seconds, Katya then correctly answered Liverpool.

Clearly impressed with her football knowledge, the choreographer then shared the victorious clip with her 206,000 followers on her Instagram Stories.

Tagging Neil in the post, she wrote: "The only question I got right...@mr_njonesofficial I hope you’re proud!"

He was certainly impressed, going on to repost his ex-wife's clip onto his own Instagram Stories.

In 2018, Neil and Katya saw their relationship tested when pictures emerged of Katya and her then Strictly partner Seann Walsh kissing during their time working together on the hit show.

The following year, in August 2019, the Strictly co-stars announced their separation, insisting it had nothing to do with what happened between Seann and Katya.

Despite no longer being married, the pair have remained on good terms with one another - as they star alongside each other on the BBC series, and co-parent their adorable pooches together.

Speaking to The Express last year, Neil remarked how the one-time lovers still have a friendly relationship.

"We've been through so much together and have known each other for years, she's a good friend of mine," he told the publication in January 2021.

"We will always be friends no matter what."

During last year's series of Strictly Come Dancing, Katya had a sweet message for her ex-husband, after he was booted off the show with his celebrity dance partner Nina Wadia.

Neil and the former EastEnders actress became the first couple to be booted off the BBC show, after losing the dreaded dance-off against Katie McGlynn and her partner Gorka Marquez.

Shortly after their departure, Katya - who competed on the 2021 series with Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty - sent the axed duo a heartfelt message via social media.

Posting a link to a video of the former contestants from the official Strictly Instagram page, the 32-year-old added: "I'm so sorry to see this fireworks of a couple go."

The dancer then added a number of crying-face emojis before continuing with: "We loved you guys."

Katya tagged both her ex husband and Nina's personal Instagram handles to ensure they saw the sentimental message.
