Strictly's Kara Tointon reveals sister has welcomed first baby with Inbetweeners star

The Inbetweeners stars Hannah Tointon and her on-screen boyfriend, Joe Thomas have welcomed their first child together, her older sister Kara has revealed.

The couple first met on the Channel 4 sitcom back in 2010 before they made the decision to move in with one another just two years later.

Despite their characters' relationship ending in disaster, following a rather awkward scene during which Joe's character began to continually slap his manhood before exposing himself, Tata demanded he never contacted her again.

Away from that, their relationship off-screen has continued to blossom with the pair often keeping their relationship out of the limelight.

However, throughout Hannah's pregnancy, the couple who played Tara and Simon on the programme had been convinced that they were expecting a baby boy after the ultrasound technician accidentally said: "he".

To their surprise, as Hannah gave birth they were greeted by a baby girl leaving the couple completely speechless.

Speaking on Ashley James' Mum's The Word podcast, former Strictly Come Dancing star Kara said: "My sister's just had her first.

"What's funny is that on Joe's side there's only boys, even during the scan they accidentally said he at one point, so they'd gone along thinking it's a boy.

"Everyone playing the shape game etc said she's having a boy, so when they eventually had a boy, it was really brilliant, but it knocked them for six.

"So they hadn't even decided on a girls' name, they left it as a surprise."

Since they decided to make their relationship official, Joe and Hannah moved in with one another in Central London and the actor proposed to his fiancée back in 2017.

Speaking about working alongside Hannah during an appearance on Lorraine in 2018 while promoting the comedy film The Festival, Joe said: "I've just got used to it, she's just in everything because my brain is so simple, I was just like 'Yep, there she is!'

"It went very well, I think."

But it appears that the pair aren't all laughs when they're at home, with Joe continuing to say: "I guess I do try and switch off when I get home, yeah, doing comedy all day, sometimes you just want to be calm and chilled."
