Jowita Przystal made history in Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing final, becoming the first female pro to win the show in her first series.
After three months of ballroom competition and countless eliminations, the new series of Strictly came to an end on Saturday night as Jowita, together with Hamza Yassin, saw off competition from Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez, Fleur East and Vito Coppola and Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu to snatch the Glitterball trophy.
While the BBC never reveal Strictly voting figures, plenty of viewers at home are convinced that Helen and Gorka must have come pretty close to winning given, that, like Hamza and Jowita, they never once landed in the dance-off. But in the end it was CBeebies star Hamza and former Greatest Dancer winner Jowita were victorious, despite finishing bottom of the leaderboard on the night.

They both looked really emotional when they were announced as winners at the end of the two and a half hour live broadcast, before being presented with the coveted Glitterball, with Jowita following in the footsteps of other champion pros like two time winner Oti Mabuse, Flavia Cacace, who won with Louis Smith and Aliona Vilani, who triumphed with Wanted star Jay McGuinness.
But what sets Jowita apart from the others is that she won Strictly in her first ever year of having a celeb partner. And her fellow Strictly professionals were quick to pass on some deserved congratulations, with Amy Dowden taking to Instagram to write: "Massive congratulations," and NAncy Xu,. who just missed out on a place in the final with Will Mellor, commenting: "Congratulations beautiful."
The comments came after Jowita paid a heartfelt tribute to partner Hamza, posting: "I’ve asked you for two things trust and energy and you gave me much more. Seeing you pushing the boundaries, going out of your comfort zone, working so hard throughout those 13 weeks made me the proudest teacher. You’ve proven everything is possible if you willing to fight for it."
