Johannes Radebe has revealed a member of the royal family has confessed to him that they would love to be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
The South African born professional dancer, 36, has rubbed shoulders with a number of royals over the years, including giving a dance demonstration to Queen Camilla earlier this year.
Appearing on this weekend’s episode of ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show, Radebe dished that Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh is itching for a chance to lift the Glitterball Trophy.
“She would love the opportunity to [compete in Strictly Come Dancing] but she can’t obviously. She has personally told me this,” he told the stunned host and other guests, Perrie Edwards, Frank Skinner, Aisling Bea and Kasabian.
He also opened up about recently announced news that he’s set to make his musical debut in a UK and Ireland tour of Kinky Boots next year, playing the role of drag queen Lola.
“I’m a late bloomer. I have the opportunity to play Lola in Kinky Boots. Everything I’ve done in my career has led to this moment. I’ve followed it since its inception,” he enthused.
Confirming that he will also be singing in the musical, Radebe added: “A first for me. It’s been two years I’ve been taking my singing lessons because I’ve known about the job for two years.
“I just wanted to respect people who have come before me and put in the work before I could say yes. I’m grateful that the producers waited until I was ready.”
