Strictly Come Dancing's Helen Skelton has opened up about how the BBC show has helped her following her marriage split. Whilst the 39-year-old former Blue Peter presenter narrowly missed out on lifting the Glitterball, she has now said that Strictly saw her through "dark days" foolowing her break up from Richie Myler.
Speaking to Ranvir Singh on ITV's Lorraine, Helen said: "If I could bottle that atmosphere from Saturday (December 17), it'll see me through any dark days. It was just the most wonderful feeling. It just goes to show what happens when you surround yourself with good people."
She added: "Look I just wanted to make my kids proud. So we didn't quite bring home that trophy but we made memories that will last a lifetime." It was Hamza Yassin and dance partner Jowita Przystal who were crowned this year's winners after impressing both judges and viewers over the course of the series.

During the same interview, Helen paid tribute to dance partner Gorka, whom she described as a "credit" to the show. She explained: "I am so grateful to that man, he is a credit to that show and a credit to his family. That show pushes all the buttons. It's so emotional. He never made me say things I didn't want to. He never made me pull the thread that would have made me unravel."
Helen split from rugby player Richie in April, mere weeks after the birth of their third child. It's reported he's now expecting a baby with his new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill. According to Head Judge Shirley Ballas, one of Helen's final dances on Strictly was an act of "revenge" against her husband of eight years. Read more about that here.
