Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton has been having 'secret' calls with former contestant Dan Walker, as she hopes to match her high score from Saturday night.
Former Blue Peter presenter Helen has established herself as real favourite amongst fans as she competes in the new series of the hit BBC showm alongside pro partner Gorka Marquez. After a rather shaky start, which saw her flee Strictly rehearsals through a fire exit before the first live show, her scores have been on the up and up and she and Gorka earned a personal best on Saturday night, when their Charleston to the Blue Peter theme tune got them 35 out of 30, putting them joint top of the leaderboard.
Both Gorka and the Strictly judges have been willing Helen, who split from husband RIchie Myler months before starting Strictly training, to have more belief in herself and someone else who has been offering her some advice is ex BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker. Speaking the Daily Star, Dan, who surprised the judges and himself, by finishing fifth on Strictly last year told the Daily Star: "I know Helen Skelton really well and I've been talking to her quite a bit and I think he's been fantastic and I told her she's going to be there for quite some time. "She rang me the week before she went on and I told her 'you have to go into it with her eyes wide open.'"
Revisiting his own time on the show, Dan, who now anchors Channel 5 News, added: "From my experience of it you have to enjoy it as much as you can and you never want to finish it and think 'Ugh, I wish I allowed myself to enjoy it more.'"
After their series high score last week, Helen and Gorka are now gearing up for Halloween Week, with the couple set to perform a Foxtrot to Lil' Red Riding Hood.
Helen and Gorka are now second favourites to win Strictly 2022, after they leapfrogged Will Mellor and Nancy Xu in the latest odds. Hamza Yasim and pro partner Jowita Prytzl are still the ones to beat in the eyes of the bookies.
