Strictly’s Hamza Yassin comforted by Jowita as he says worries he's ‘too big to dance’

Strictly Come Dancing star Hamza Yassin has been comforted by his professional dance partner, Jowita Przystal, after the BBC favourite shared a heartbreaking confession about his weight.

Hamza, who is a renowned wildlife cameraman, admitted that he felt he could never join Strictly Come Dancing because he felt 'too big to dance' amid his body confidence issues.

On Saturday night, Hamza, 32, completely wowed both the judges and Strictly viewers at home with an impressive jive alongside Jowita, but the star left viewers 'sad' after he admitted that he didn't think he had the dance in him due to his weight.

Following Hamza's heartbreaking confession, the Countryfile star was comforted by his professional partner during their joint appearance on Strictly's It Takes Two on Wednesday evening.

Jowita threw her arms around Hamza while the pair chatted to host Rylan Clark, admitting that she was taken aback by his sad confession on Saturday night's show.

Host Janette Manrara remarked: “When you were in Claudia’s area you said that you were too big for the Jive but Jowita, come on, when you see something like that, you must be proud.”

“Of course and you're absolutely not too big for the Jive you're meant to Jive,” the professional dancer replied.

After being praised by his admirers, Hamza explained why he was feeling conscious before the dance.

"If I'm honest, I struggled and you can see the celebration at the end of the dance when Jowita jumped on me because all throughout rehearsals I couldn't get my timing. It’s so quick for me," the Strictly star told.

“The only way I could keep up was to count, count out loud which Motsi noticed.

“I must admit that Jowita held me throughout the whole week and kept me going.

“Mentally I think it was tough for me it started off tough for me but we got there in the end, didn't we."

Despite Hamza's initial worry, the wildlife cameraman ended up coming top of the leaderboard on the first week of the hit BBC One show.

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday on BBC One.
