Strictly's Giovanni Pernice backs Rose Ayling-Ellis as reigning champion breaks 'scary' job news

Giovanni Pern ice has thrown his support behind his former Strictly Come Dancing partner Rose Ayling-Ellis after she shared news of a 'scary' new challenge in her career.

It's not yet been 12 months since Giovanni and EastEnders actress Rose lifted the Glitterball trophy, after bowling over both the Strictly judges and viewers at home with a string of amazing performances, particularly their Couple's Choice routine to Clean Bandit number 1 Symphony, which saw them dance to 10 seconds of utter silence in support of the deaf community.

Rose and Giovanni beat all male couple John Whaite and Johannes Radebe in the final and reigning champion Giovanni was one half of a same-sex partnership for the new series, alongside Radio 2 and One Show star Richie Anderson. However, Giovanni's Strictly run this year is already over, with him and Richie coming the second couple to be given the boot from the ballroom.

Rose has also moved on since their Strictly win, leaving EastEnders a few months ago, after two years of playing Danny Dyer's on-screen daughter Frankie. And now, Rose has announced her next career move, starring on stage in a new production of William Shakespeare's As You Like It in London.

Revealing all on Instagram, she posted: "So excited to finally share this news! I am thrilled to be going back to theatre with this talented group of people. Scary thought to be performing Shakespeare for the very first time playing Celia. I’m feeling privileged to be able to do this in this incredible new space. Can’t wait to get creative."

Giovanni was quick to lend his support to Rose after her big news, replying 'Legend' in the comments section. Another Strictly pro, Luba Mushtuk, also responded, writing: "Yes yes and yes."
