Strictly's Fleur East is late for radio show as 'intense' training leaves her exhausted

Strictly Come Dancing's Fleur East was late for her radio show today, admitting the 'intense' training for the BBC series had left her exhausted.

The Sax singer, 35, wowed the judges with a perfect score of 40 at the weekend, but it seems like her commitment to the dance show is taking its toll.

Fleur's Hits Radio Show co-hosts explained the star was 'missing in action' this morning, but would be in as soon as possible as they advised listeners to 'give her some slack due to the 15-hour days'.

Some twenty minutes later, the singer rocked up, explaining: "I slept a little too well last night guys – I was dancing until past 10pm which explains the bags under my eyes. Bags for Life!!"

Fleur and her dance partner Vito Coppola have been tipped to bag the Glitterball trophy following their fabulous performance in Blackpool.

This weekend, ‘Fleurito’ are dancing a rhumba to the Sugababes' Too Lost In You.

Speaking about the pair's preparation for the dance, Fleur said: "The rhumba is really intense and a lot of technique so I was rhumba-ing late into the night with Vito and my hips are so sore – I’ve never moved my hips so much in my life!

"Every week is a reset it’s a brand-new show again, new dance, new technique so you’ve got to start again."

The X Factor star broke down in tears when she received the first perfect score of the series on Saturday.

Fleur and Vito danced their Couple's Choice routine to a Destiny's Child megamix, with the star's family watching proudly in the audience.

In an emotional night, the singer spoke of how much she wished her late father could have joined her at Blackpool because he loved the show so much.

The judges loved Fleurito's routine, awarding them a perfect score of 40 out of 40. There were screams and shouts from the audience as Craig Revel Horwood finally pulled out his 10-paddle for the first time in this series.

As the score was revealed, Fleur started to cry while Claudia showed her how much it meant to her family.

Fleur's mum held her head in her hands in disbelief as she cried at her daughter's triumph, while the singer embraced Vito in heartwarming scenes.

The couple will be hoping to repeat their perfect score this weekend and secure a place in the quarter final as the race to lift the Glitterball trophy gathers pace.

Fleur East is on The Hits Radio Breakfast Show every weekday morning from 6am –10am.
