Strictly's Claudia Winkleman quips 'I'm fired' after letting slip BBC show shake-up

Claudia Winkleman joked that she had been "fired" from Strictly after appearing to let slip a change to this year's upcoming series.

The presenter, 50, appeared on The One Show when she was grilled by hosts Alex Jones and Gethin Jones for details on the BBC dancing competition.

"They don't tell me anything," she told Alex and Gethin. "They tell me after they tell Tess and the press because I'm leaky."

Gethin asked her: "We'll have some new faces though, won't we? With Oti and Aljaz leaving, we're going to have some new pro dancers?"

"There are going to be, I think, some new -" Claudia stopped herself before shaking her head. "I'm not sure I'm allowed to say that. Maybe I won't. I've just been fired. My phone just buzzed!

"But yeah, there might be a few new pro dancers."

It comes after viewers were not best pleased earlier this week as they tuned into watch an interview with legendary actor Rowan Atkinson.

Atkinson, 67, appeared on the show alongside the likes of Top Gear's Chris Harris as he was interviewed by hosts Jermaine Jenas and Angela Scanlon.

He was due on the show to talk about new Netflix series Man vs Bee, which sees him star as father Trevor Bingley, who works as a house-sitter in a lavish mansion.

Yet fans were left extremely disappointed as they complained that the comedy icon wasn't given enough chances to speak, accusing the presenters of continually interrupting him.

One viewer raged on Twitter : "I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more uncomfortable guest than Rowan Atkinson. The introvert is coming out, clearly not an experience he’s enjoying. #TheOneShow."

While another fumed: "It doesn’t help that he has plenty to say but they’ve not given him any time and keep trying to cut him off."

A third seethed: "#TheOneShow pointless getting Rowan Atkinson if you ask him a question then keep butting in to try and shut him up."

"Wasted! You had the incredible, talented Rowan Atkinson in the studio and you hardly spoke to him and when you did, you quickly cut him dead! C**P presenting #TheOneShow," another raged.

Another pleaded: "You have Rowan Atkinson. TALK TO HIM!! #theoneshow."
