Strictly's Amy Dowden enjoys 'amazing' hen do in Cardiff ahead of her wedding

Amy Dowden has revealed the countdown to her wedding is officially on after she enjoyed a hen do in Cardiff. The Strictly Come Dancing professional partied with family and friends at the The Parkgate Hotel and Dirty Martini ahead of her nuptials to Benjamin Jones.

Wearing an all-white ensemble, Amy, 31, could be seen in a bride-to-be sash, veil, and sunglasses as she shared a series of snaps with her 315k followers on Instagram. Calling the Cardiff weekend "amazing", Amy thanked her twin sister for organising the hen which was delayed by two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Amy wrote: "Had the most amazing home Hen party! Thank you so much to my sister @becky_dowden for all the fantastic surprises. I had the BEST TIME! Thank you everyone for all the fun and dancing! Right next it's the BIG DAY."

Caerphilly-born Amy and her bridal party posed next to a sign at The Parkgate Hotel that said "Welcome to Amy's hen", before enjoying afternoon tea and some time at the spa. The party then headed out to Cardiff for a night out where Amy could be seen making cocktails behind the bar at Dirty Martini.

The hen do comes after Amy told her fans last month that she'd finally settled on her wedding dress. Posing with the team at Laura May Bridal in Cardiff, Amy excitedly said: "That moment you've dreamed about since a little girl saying YES TO THE DRESS!

"Thank you so much lovely ladies @lauramaybridal! I'm soooooooo excited! Just weeks away."

Amy got engaged to her partner Ben, who is also a dancer, on New Year's Eve in 2017. The couple were forced to postpone the big day, however, due to government restrictions surrounding coronavirus at the time.

Sharing a video on what would have been her wedding day in 2020, Amy wrote: "So today should have been my last day as a Miss.

"Obviously it's not, really few mixed emotions. I should be on my way now to the cottage with my bridesmaids and my family… spending the night together playing games and probably me being really nervous.

"Ben would have been on his way to the other cottage… obviously we would have stayed apart! But I guess we have all this to come. Just remember safety is the most important thing and we still have a big day ahead." For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
