Adam Peaty has broken his silence after confirming his split from girlfriend of three years, Eiri Munro.
The Strictly Come Dancing star, 27, took to Instagram on Tuesday to apologise to Eiri, 24, and their two-year-old son George as he admitted that he had 'let them down'.
The Olympic diver, who was partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones on Strictly, posted a lengthy message alongside a photo of the family-of-three.
Adam admitted that he and Eiri have now gone their separate ways as he insisted that he will always have love for his ex-girlfriend.
"Eiri and I have decided to go our separate ways," he began the lengthy post.
"We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together, 2 of those with our gorgeous son George.
"Our priority has always been to provide the happiest and healthiest home environment for him, and right now that means ending our romantic relationship."
The former Strictly star went on: "I could not ask for a greater mother for George and I am so grateful to Eiri for her amazing support over the last three years. Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time so I ask that our privacy is respected and I won’t be saying anything further."
Following his shock statement, Adam has broken his social media silence with a cryptic post about 'space'.
The athlete took to his stories and shared a photo of himself on a solo bike ride with the caption: "Space".
It comes after Eiri, 24, took to her Instagram stories on Tuesday evening to release a statement of her own as she revealed that she would be taking a lengthy break from social media following the couple's shock split.
The mum-of-one, who shares two-year-old son with Adam, 27, penned: "The last three years have been so, so, amazing. Our little family have experienced so much laughter, love, and joy. You guys have been such a significant part of that.
"This next chapter of my life is surely going to be a difficult one. I would appreciate that people would refrain from commenting, speculating, or messaging. I have shared so much of my life, but for now, I am choosing privacy and I hope that you will all respect that."
"I appreciate you all so much and I'm so thankful for all the fun and opportunities you have given me. I am going to be taking a break from social media, so goodbye for now. Thank you so much for everything."
Adam and Eiri first met while they were both at Loughborough University - but it was Tinder that brought them together.
After just two months of dating Eiri discovered she was pregnant, with the lovebirds announced the pregnancy news on social media in April 2020.
The pair welcomed their son George-Anderson Adetola Peaty in September 2020.
