There are now just weeks to go until the Strictly Come Dancing-shaped hole in our lives is filled again, with the date for the first live show of the new series now confirmed.
A few weeks ago, some serious hints were dropped as ton when the Strictly launch show would be this year, with the episode focused on which celebrity will be paired with which pro dancer always a big draw for fans. It's since been announced that this will be recorded on Wednesday, September 7, rather than it being a live broadcast.
It is expected the Strictly launch show will then air on the BBC a few days later on Saturday, September 10. And that heralds the start of more than two months of ballroom action, with the first live show now being revealed online as Saturday, September 24 and the final, as it always is, set to take place in the run up to Christmas..

Over excited fans have been rushing to apply for tickets on the BBC website, with viewers invited to choose every single Saturday night show if they so wish, although there is no guarantee that they will be successful. There is a maximum of two tickets per person, with them available to fans aged 14 and over and all under-18s required to be accompanied by an adult.
As Fleur East continues to be the early bookies favourite to win the Glitterball trophy this year, two major changes have now been announced for Strictly 2022. As well as the show marking BBC's 100th birthday with a special BBC themed week, fans have been delighted to learn that, after Covid thwarted plans for two years in a row, Blackpool Week is back this year as the show once again takes over the iconic Tower Ballroom.
